It doesn’t matter if you share a bathroom or have one in your barracks room; this is the room that can be a hub of all that is nasty and unholy. Germs exist in every crack and crevice. Cleaning is a vital part of keeping you healthy and getting your leadership off your back.
The biggest problems are going to be the ones you don’t see. Use sanitization wipes, a cleaner, and a rag on everything. If it touches skin, it should be wiped down.
Don’t forget the bottom and behind of faucets, sinks, the pot, and any other fixture. Your leader will check behind and around items.
Use the blue bleach tablets that go in the top tank of your pot. In addition, it helps sanitize your toilet, presents as clean, and can help hide anything you may have missed in the pot itself.
The shower is another feature that will get you nailed if you don’t do it right. Check the tile, shower floor, and curtain. A commonly missed item is the shower head. Little crusties like to form. Ahead of time, unscrew it and place it in cleaner made for this or a water/vinager mizture. It will help loosen the debris, then use a brush ( old toothbrush would work) to knock off the grime.
Vanities need to be completely wiped down. No toothpaste globs or mouthwash stains. Pop up the stopper if possible and clean it completely to unclog around the drain. Gunk likes to form there, so a deep clean is recommended. Make sure to wipe down handles: if leadership grabs a handle and feels that it’s rough, sticky, or slimy, he or she will not be pleased with you.
Floors & Trash – A new trash bag with no regard for what’s under it is not going to cut it. Turn the can upside down and shake out bits that may be in there. Wipe down and let dry before you put a new bag in. This way you won’t collect unwanted odors.

Toliet
Always check under the parts and lid.
Use wipes and clean the bowl; wipe out the sides, including the back and base. It collects dust, even if you think it’s not dirty.
Use bowl cleaner and a bleach tablet in the back.
Don’t forget to clean the joints where the lid touches the bowl. Grime can hide there.
Make sure paper, scrubber, and anything you would place on the top are in a neat and orderly fashion.
Shower
Check for buildup of lime, mold, and mildew
Keep dry to prevent growth on the curtain. Wipe down walls; if gritty to the touch, then you’re not done.
Check under traps and drains; grime builds up in those places.
Keep area clear and free of clothes. Check under soap trays
Sinks & Surfaces
Check under stoppers and drain holes
Remove soap tray and clean. Wipe down all the metal and fixtures.
Check under the stopper and behind the faucets for hidden grime.
Check the little drain hole. Hidden gunk lurks there.
Misc.
If it moves, check under it and clean. If it’s a fixture, wipe down.
Make sure all laundry/towls/unifrom are put away.
Wipe down benches, stools, and anywhere else skin would touch. Disinfect.
Check window and door frames. Run your finger over the top; check for dust.
Use products like plug-ins to cover odor if approved.
Trash & Floor
Dust bunnies live everywhere. Don’t sweep into a corner; throw it out.
Check floors. Mop/sweep. Remove and clean any fugs and/or mats.
Replace trash bag; check under the bag for gunk or stench before you replace the bag.
Allow time to dry before inspection. Block off all but a stall if needed.
